Nancy Ann KESSEL

Nancy Ann KESSEL, 77, of Ollie, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Joseph & Cabrini Church in Richland, with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in Ollie Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Monday at the church, with Prayers for a Christian Wake at 7 p.m.

Memorials to Manor House Care Center, Saints Joseph & Cabrini Church or On With Life Rehabilitation Center may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 28358 280th Street, Ollie 52576.

Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. KESSEL was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Des Moines, the daughter of Howard and Mabel GEE MOORE. She married Eugene KESSEL Jan. 10, 1953, in Richland.

Mrs. KESSEL grew up in Des Moines and Ottumwa and graduated from Ollie High School in 1952. In 1955, the KESSELs moved to a farm northeast of Ollie. Mrs. KESSEL was an Avon representative for 30 years, earning a place in the Presidential Club each year for many years. She also was a federal crop insurance adjustor for the United States Department of Agriculture and a seamstress for 17 years.

Mrs. KESSEL was a member of Mother Cabrini Church and Altar and Rosary Society.

She participated in a bowling league in Sigourney.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Gary "Fuzz" KESSEL and wife Kaye of Ankeny; four daughters, Brenda SCHILTZ and husband Al of Tulsa, Okla., Glenda WIDMER and husband Tom of Iowa City, Terry MILLER and husband Jerry of Iowa City and Jody PONTIOUS and husband Rob of White Bear Lake, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Howard MOORE Jr. of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant sister, Mary; and one grandson.
