JACOB BOOS FELL DEAD LAST NIGHT

Jacob BOOS dropped dead last evening at 7:45 o'clock in front of the grocery store of Harry DAVIS in New Chicago (sic. part of Fairfield, a nickname for that section). Mr. BOOS lived with his mother Mrs. M. J. BOOS about two miles sourth of this city. He had been at the home of his sister Mrs. Roy KELTNER for supper and had started home. The force of his fall was such that his skull was fractured and his neck broken.

Cororner GAUMER was called and after an examination of the remains decided that no inquest was necessary. The body was taken to the BOOS home last night.

Mr. BOOS was born May 17, 1874 in Lockridge township and has been a resident of Jefferson county all his life. He is survived by his mother anf four brothers, John and William of Lockridge, George and Louis of this city and four sisters, Mrs. Harry ROOP of Lockridge and Mrs. Roy KELTNER, Sadie and Kathrine BOOS of this city.

The funeral will be held at ten o'clock tomorrow morning at the home south of this city and the remains taken to Lockridge to morrow noon for burial.

Note: Jacob died on December 14, 1911 and was buried in what is now known as "Four Corners German Lutheran Cemetery" just NW of Lockridge, in Jefferson county, Iowa.

The following item was published the following January and is posted on the documents section of this IaGenWeb/Jefferson county website. It refers to Jacob's death as being on the previous December 19th, which was not the correct date:

On the 19th in the city JACOB J. BOOS fell in a faint on a cement sidewalk and fractured his skull and broke his neck, causing instant death. MR. BOOS was 37 years old and was a native of Lockridge township where the remains were taken for interment."
