SODERGREN Rites To Be Thursday

LOCKRIDGE - Last rites will be at Lockridge Thursday for Mrs. Victor SODERGREN, 82, former resident of Lockridge who died Sunday, Jan. 14, in Sunnyvale, Calif.

The services will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Lockridge Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lenwood Monte officiating. Interment will be in the New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery.

Members of the family will receive friends at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The casket will be taken from the funeral home to the church at noon Thursday.

Clara May SODERGREN was born Dec. 5, 1890, in Fairfield, the daughter of James and Minnie MARTIN TURNER. She was reared and educated in Fairfield.

She was married Sept. 2, 1914, at Burlington to Victor SODERGREN. He preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1970. Mrs. SODERGREN had been a resident of Lockridge for 57 years, until she moved to California following the death of her husband. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley, Waterloo, and Carl, Sunnyvale, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Note: Clara was born on the Parsons College Campus. The house has since been torn down.

The California Death Index incorrectly attributed her birth state to be Illinois instead of Iowa; at least that is the transcription provided on Ancestry.com. Whether or not the actual CDI listed Illinois, or was a transcription error when Ancestry provided the entry, isn't known to this contributor at this time.
