DEATH OF THOMAS CHILCOTT.

Thomas CHILCOTT, an old and highly respected citizen of Jefferson County, died at his home near Salina, June 11th, at 5 o'clock p.m. He had been in ill health for a long time, and for two years past had scarcely been away from his home. Mr. CHILCOTT was born in Huntingdon County, Penn., July 11th, 1819. He came to Iowa in 1844 and settled in the Lower Richwoods, removing to his place near Salina in 1851. An aged wife and seven children survive the husband and father. Of these children, four sons, Addison, Richard, Baker and Marshall, are in the west, Asa lives near the old home, while the daughters, Emma and Belle, now reside with their mother. Mr. CHILCOTT had always been a hard working, industrious man, one of the strictest honesty and integrity, one who was respected and esteemed by all his fellows. Funeral services were held at the family residence, conducted by Rev. Carson and Rev. S. T. Horton. The remains were interred in the family cemetery.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: His wife was Ellen McDONALD, who died in 1901 and is buried with him in Chilcott Cemetery.
