Dale Emmet WEHRLE

Dale Emmet WEHRLE, 89, of Salem, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be at Glasgow Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be designated to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.

Mr. WEHRLE was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Rome, Iowa, the son of William J. and Florence E. DICUS WEHRLE. He married Agatha Belle BLUCHER March 7, 1942, in Hannibal, Mo.

Mr. WEHRLE attended rural country school near Rome. He and his wife moved to California and lived there until his retirement. The couple returned to Iowa 20 years ago. During World War II, Mr. WEHRLE worked for Boeing building airplanes. He was a foreman for a plastics manufacturer for more than 20 years. He also worked as a supervisor for Standard Oil Company. Many hours were spent working on a farm.

Mr. WEHRLE was a member of the National Rifle Association and Pheasants Forever.

Mr. WEHRLE enjoyed hunting, fishing, searching for mushrooms and golfing.

Survivors include his wife and nieces and nephews in Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
