Monday August 31, 1987Rites Tuesday for HOOTMAN
Fred Irvin HOOTMAN, 77, 301 E. Kirkwood, died Saturday at Jefferson County Hospital.
HOOTMAN was born Oct. 1, 1909 in Van Buren County to Charles Wesley and Mina Grace KIMMELL HOOTMAN. He married Eva Wanola PHILLIPS on July 19, 1930 in Fairfield.
HOOTMAN had worked as a carpenter for Streetor Door Co. and as a plumber for Vorhies Plumbing and Heating. He lived all of his life in Jefferson County and the Fairfield area and was known for his woodworking, particularly furniture.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Charles, West Chester; Robert, El Paso, Texas; and Jim, Sioux Falls, S.D.; four daughters: Delores FORD, Mount Pleasant; Dixie MYERS, Keosauqua; Peggy HOOVER, Edwards, Mo.; and Karen ISEMAN, Lebanon, Mo.; 31 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two sisters; Georgia BAGBY, Fairfield; and Myrtle FRANCE, Sigourney.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bil, a brother, Kenneth, and two sisters, Mattie and Pearl.
Funeral services for HOOTMAN will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Lenwood Monte officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Fund.
