Robert SMITH

Robert SMITH, 101, died Friday, April 15, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Bible Church, with the Rev. Mike Mosier officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mr. SMITH's great-grandson Brandon SMITH's medical expenses. Cards and memorials may be sent to Bobbie SMITH, P.O. Box 42, Birmingham 52535.

Mr. SMITH was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Birmingham, the son of Pearl and Mamie GRAMMER SMITH. He married Nellie HENDRICKS July 21, 1928, at the Presbyterian church in Birmingham. She died Sept. 22, 2001.

Mr. SMITH was an inspector for Louden Machinery Co. for 40 years.

He was a member of Zion Bible Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn DOROTHY and husband Vern of Mount Pleasant; one son, Bobbie SMITH and wife Janet of Birmingham; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, two brothers and four sisters.
