Elizabeth 'Libby' K. CLIFFORD

Elizabeth "Libby" K. CLIFFORD, 93, died Friday, April 9, 2011, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A celebration of life service was held Monday at Behner's Funeral Home.

Mrs. CLIFFORD was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Clarence W. and Edith COOPE KANOLT. She married William "Bill" H. CLIFFORD in 1940. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. CLIFFORD grew up in Pehlam Manor, N.Y., where she studied modern dance, and in Manhattan, N.Y. She met her husband, who was an actor on Broadway, while she was working as a medical secretary. They lived in Greenwich Village, New York City, and after the war moved to Yonkers, N.Y. In 1990, Mrs. CLIFFORD moved to Fairfield to be with her daughter Ann after her husband passed away from cancer.

She volunteered at the Bargain Box for most of her years in Fairfield and enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann CLIFFORD of Fairfield and Morgan CLIFFORD and husband Timothy OLD of Stillwater, Minn.; one son, William H. CLIFFORD and wife Diane of Gig Harbor, Wash.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruth FESSLER.
