JESSE DAGGETT PASSED AWAY EARLY THIS MORNING

Jesse Hubert DAGGETT Sr. died early this morning at his home on Maple Avenue after an illness of many years. He was the son of William Lovejoy DAGGETT and Mary Elizabeth LIPPETT (sic. LIPPITT) and was born Sept. 28, 1869, in Fairfield, where he grew to young manhood.

At the age of 14 years he entered the Ledger printing office where he worked three years learning the trade. Later he worked as foreman with the Fairfield Tribune and was also employed on the Ottumwa Courier for six years. He lived ifor a time in Cedar Rapids where he was Linotype foreman with the Cedar Rapids Republican.

Mr. DAGGETT was married March 25th, 1896 to Gertrude L. ROBINSON of Brighton and spent three years on a farm near there. From 1902 until 1906 he edited the Richland Clarion. His health failing, Mr. DAGGETT came to Fairfield where he lived, an invalid for ten years. He united with the Christian Science church in 1909.

Six children were born to this union, who besides the wife, survive him. The are: Hazel V., who is a teacher in the Oskaloosa schools, Leslie L., of Ottumwa, Willard M., James E., Jesse H. Jr., and Helen G., all of this city. One brother, Frank L., of this city, also survives.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock from the residence Monday afternoon and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
