Rachel M. WELSH

Rachel M. WELSH, 74, of Hedrick, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Gene V. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Competine Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 5-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice, 927 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa 52501.

Mrs. WELSH was born May 12, 1936, in Farson, the daughter of John Henry and Avis Emma OSTERFOSS HAGEN. She married Jerald R. WELSH June 5, 1955.

A graduate of Hedrick High School, Mrs. WELSH and her husband farmed east of Farson.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerald Ray WELSH Jr. of Boone and Rick WELSH of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth HACKERT of Sigourney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bobby HAGEN; and one sister, Jenny AVERY.
