Betty L. HELTERBRAN, 83, formerly of Lockridge, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at West Point Care Center in West Point.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Betty Lanora HELTERBRAN

Betty Lanora HELTERBRAN, 83, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at West Point Care Facility.

A service was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Kevin Dice, the Rev. Ron Vanderhart and the Rev. Aaron Helterbran officiating. Interment was in Lambirth Cemetery, southeast of Lockridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Round Prairie Baptist Church, Lambirth Cemetery or Hospice of Lee County. Cards and memorials may be sent to 3189 Wheat Blvd., Lockridge 52635.

Mrs HELTERBRAN was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Peoria County, Ill., the daughter of Henry Banks and Fern Marie HARPER LINGENFELTER. She married Paul F. HELTERBRAN Aug. 9, 1951, in Columbia Falls, Mont. He died Nov. 14, 1975.

Mrs. HELTERBRAN lived most of her life on a farm south of Lockridge before moving to Fort Madison.

She was a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Lockridge Rough Riders Saddle Club for many years and was a former 4-H leader.

Mrs. HELTERBRAN enjoyed being around young people.

Survivors include four sons: Calvin and wife Sherri of Lockridge, David and wife Terri of Lockridge, Jay and wife Chris of West Point and Daniel and wife Deb BARNETT of Lockridge; three daughters: Bonita BLIND and husband Frank of Stockport, Janet KENEL and husband Gary of Fort Madison and Norma DAVIS and husband Kenton of Fairfield; 28 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother: Lawrence Monroe LINGENFELTER of Lockridge; and two sisters: Hildreth NEBERGALL of Canton, Ill., and Henrietta June JENNINGS of Wapello.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Paul Edward HELTERBRAN; one stepdaughter: Pauline HELTERBRAN; and two sisters: Ferna GARNER of Cedar Rapids and Helen WILLIS of Ottumwa.
