James O. COIL, 83, a resident of Parkview Care Center since 1981, died of a heart attack at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 1989, at the care center.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery at Packwood. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience starting Saturday. A memorial has been established to First Christian Church in Fairfield.
COIL was born May 25, 1906, near Brighton. A farmer most of his life, he married Litusha Olive CLINE Jan. 28, 1932, in Ottumwa. They farmed near Sigourney from 1935 until 1948, when they moved to a farm north of Fairfield and continued farming. He worked at Philco-Ford in Fairfield, in the factory for 10 years and as a watchman for four years, before retiring in 1971. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Marsalan of Ankeny, Leland of American Canyon, Calif.; three grandchildren and a brother, Herman of Lakeland, Fla. His wife died Nov. 17, 1982. A brother, Harvey, also preceded him in death.
