"WOOLSON. After a week's illness John Shy passed away Friday morning. Funeral Sunday afternoon and burial at Blue Point Cemetery."

"John Shy, son of Charles and Jacobine Shy, born and raised in Jefferson County, born Sept 10 1855, died at Woolson, Iowa June 11 1926 age 70-9-1. Married Elizabeth Altman Jan 16 1876. Ten children, two died in infancy; eight surviving: Charles at home, Nettie Emry of Pleasant Plain, Clarence of Richland, Anna Williams of Packwood, Ervin of Packwood, Orpha Spencer of Fairfield, Gertrude Hinshaw of Richland, Doyle of Sandwich, Ill., also one brother Henry Shy and 20 grandchildren. Three sisters preceded him in death. . . . .Goodbye old friend, our next meeting will be without the dread of parting."
