Helen M. EMERSON, 62, was born Sept 12 1894 at Brighton, Iowa, daughter of the late David and Alice BAIRD LEECH. Moved to this community in 1909. Married, Dec 24 1914 Vern SPEER who died Jan. 12 1942. Married Joe EMERSON in Fairfield Sept. 16 1948. Member Salina Presbyterian Church. She died Thursday at the Jefferson County Hospital. Besides her husband, Mrs. EMERSON is survived by the following children: Mrs. Margery PECK and Mrs. Dorothy STONER, both of Fairfield; and Richard SPEER of Marshall, Minn.; also 9 grandchildren; one brother, Victor LEECH, Fairfield, and two sisters: Mrs. Mabel EARLY, Fairfield, and Mrs. Margaret WILLIAMSON, Liberia, Africa. Other survivors are the following stepchildren: Edwin EMERSON and Mrs. James STECKEL, Des Moines; Max EMERSON and Mrs. George ALLENDER, Fairfield; and Mrs Jey SCHAFER, Brighton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, one daughter, one brother, and a sister.
