"Mrs. Elizabeth Lewman, wife of William Lewman, died in Black Hawk township, this county, March 7th. Deceased was born in Lewis County, Ky., in 1815, and was married there in 1833. They came to Iowa in 1837, first living in Lee County, and removed here three years later. Her husband and a large family survive her. . . . .She and her husband were among the earliest settlers of northern Jefferson County."
