William "Bill" Dean CLARK, age 74, of Albia passed away Tuesday morning, March 8, 2011 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Bill was born February 8, 1937 to Paul and Genevieve (MILLER) CLARK in New Sharon. He graduated from Fremont High School Class of 1955. On August 11, 1956 Bill married Ruth RHOADS at the Christian Church in Oskaloosa. They shared fifty four years of marriage before Bill's passing.
Bill worked for the telephone company for thirty-eight years before retiring. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Astor lodge 505, and a social member of the American Legion of Albia, and was a past member of the Elk's Club in Fairfield. Bill enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, boating, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth CLARK of Albia; his children, Debra (Dean) FOSTER of Lockridge, IA, and Danny CLARK (Mary Jo FUGATE) of Albia; three grandchildren Celina (Michael) FLEMING of Charleston, SC, and Jessie and Cody FOSTER of Indianola; three great-grandchildren, Katie, James, and Andrew FLEMING. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert (Nadine) CLARK of Overland Park, KS, Richard (Sandy) CLARK of Albia, and Ronald (Tess) CLARK of San Antonio, TX; a brother-in-law, Donald (Merrily) TOWNSEND; an Aunt Francine (Bill) TINKLE of Grinnell, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Genevieve; a son Michael CLARK; a sister Twyla TOWNSEND, and step mother, Anna May SHROYER.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday March 12, 2011 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Rev. Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will follow services at Service Chapel Cemetery of rural Albia.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Winfield Funeral Home, with Masonic Rites provided by Astor Lodge 505 A.F. & A.M. at 7:00 P.M. with Bill's family present from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening.
In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice of Monroe County. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
