Page 4, Column 2Mrs. Catherine (WILLIAMSON) BARNES died at her home in this city yesterday morning at 4 o'clock. Born in Ripley Co., Ind., Apr 3 1843. When 13 years of age moved with her parents to Henry Co., Iowa. Later she moved to Jefferson County and was married here to W. H. BARNES in 1866. Two children born to them, William H. of British Columbia and Mary E. of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. BARNES died in 1889.

Tuesday, September 30, 1913FAIRFIELD PIONEER WOMAN PASSES AWAY
Fairfield, Sept. 30 -- Mrs. Cathrine BARNES one of the oldest residents of Fairfield passed away Sunday at her home on West Madison street after several months illness. Her death was due to old age and attendant ailments.
Mrs. BARNES was about 75 years of age and was the third member of her family to answer the death angel's summons within the past few months. Two sisters, Mrs. Hannah SHELTON and Mrs. Walter SAMMONS, both in the seventies have passed away here within a space of four months.
Mrs. BARNES is survived by two children, her husband having been dead many years. One daughter, Miss Mayme, in Mt. Pleasant hospital and a son who is in the United States navy stationed in British Columbia, survive.
The funeral was held Monday at ten o'clock at the chapel of Kerrick & Co. on South Main street and the remains were laid to rest in Evergreen (sic - Old Fairfield) cemetery. Mrs. BARNES was a quiet home loving woman who was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
