Former Jefferson County Farmer Dies At Brighton Home

BRIGHTON, Ia., Jan. 13 -- Henry WILLIAMS, 73, retired farmer and former resident of Jefferson county, died suddenly at his home in Brighton at 11:15 p.m. yesterday.

Mr. WILLIAMS had been in good health prior to his death. He had retired for the night, and was attempting to get out of bed when he was stricken. A native of Missouri, Mr. WILLIAMS resided on a farm northwest of Pleasant Plain for many years. He moved to Brighton in 1944.

He was born May 2, 1873 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Columbus WILLIAMS. He married Miss Ruth HOSKINS of near Pleasant Plain in 1900, who preceded him in death in 1935. Two children died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Esther JOHNSON, died in 1936.

On October 17, 1936 he married Miss Lillie EVERETTE of Richland. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Merrill GOWEY, four grandchildren and two great grand children. One sister, Mrs. Anna DEARING of near Brighton and Eloise EVERETTE of Iowa City and Herbert EVERETTE of near Brighton also survive.

The body is at the Omar Hoskins funeral home in Brighton where funeral plans are incomplete. Burial will be at Pleasant Plain.

Admin. note: Buried in Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery with his first wife Ruth. His birth year is mis-engraved on his gravestone; it reads 1874 - 1948.
