Ronald R. RUGGLES

Ronald R. RUGGLES, 76, of Packwood, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Family Church, west of Ollie, with the Rev. Dar Eckley officiating.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Packwood Lions Club or Grace Family Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home.

Ronald R. RUGGLES

Ronald R. RUGGLES, 76, of Packwood, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A service was held this morning at Grace Family Church, west of Ollie, with the Rev. Dar Eckley officiating.

Memorials may be made to Packwood Lions Club or Grace Family Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mr. RUGGLES was born Nov. 28, 1934, in rural Packwood, the son of Cecil R. "Buck" and Maurietta Maye VESTAL RUGGLES. He married Mary Ruth WHITMORE April 13, 1952. She died June 6, 1994. He married Beverly COMER Aug. 5, 2009.

Mr. RUGGLES graduated from Batavia High School in 1952. He lived out west for many years. Living in California, he worked at McDonnell-Douglas. He then worked as a general foreman at Ameron in California, New Mexico and Arizona. After moving back to Iowa, he was owner and operator of the Packwood and Brighton stockyards for many years. He then worked as a salesperson at Fesler Auto Mall, from where he retired. During his retirement, he drove a Southern Iowa Economic Development Association bus for Ottumwa Transit.

Mr. RUGGLES was a member of Packwood Lions Club and Grace Family Church.

He enjoyed flying and had earned his private pilot's license. His hobbies included golfing and attending his grandchildren's sporting events and horse shows.

Survivors include his wife; two sons: Steven and wife Kim of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jim and wife Debra of Ollie; two daughters: Connie BLAKELY of Ollie and Shelley ECKLEY and husband Dar of Hedrick; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepchildren: Jerry JOHNSON and wife Judy of Agency, Hank JOHNSON and wife Melanie of Windsor, Mo., James JOHNSON and wife Marilyn of Bloomfield, Keith JOHNSON and wife DeAnna of Agency, Debora DAVIS of Batavia and Michael JOHNSON and wife Sharon of Norwalk; 13 stepgrandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one grand-daughter; one son-in-law, Denny BLAKELY; and one sister, Gail.
