"PLEASANT PLAIN RESIDENT DIES.
Mr. Benjamin Whittaker died last Saturday at his home in Pleasant Plain. Mr. Whittaker was an old and highly respected resident, and a brother of Mrs. John Marcy, and Mrs. Mercy Vinton of this city.
Mrs. L. J. Marcy, Mrs. John Marcy, Mrs. Cornelia Dubois and Mrs. E. W. Vinton went to Pleasant Plain Monday to attend the funeral, which was held at the Whittaker home in that place at 10 a.m."

"Benjamin Franklin Whitacre born Apr 16 1844 Muncie, Lycoming Co., Penn., died Aug 8 1908 aged 64-3-22. Son of Joseph A. and Hannah Whitacre. He had eight brothers and two sisters. Those who grew to manhood were Robert H., Thomas A., Edward Davis, Joseph J., Calvin B. and Enos. His sisters were Mercy Vinton and Mary H. Marcy of Fairfield. They with one brother, Joseph J. of Cedar Falls, survive him.
Apr 18 1878 he married Celestia Turner. Two daughters, Mertie M. and Helen E., who with the wife and one grandson survive. Burial in the Pleasant Plain Cemetery."
