William W. LEE paid the penalty of his crime for brutally murdering Jessie McCARTY in a bagnio opposite Burlington and afterward throwing her body in the Mississippi river. He was hung at Oquawka, Ill., on Friday last. Two of his brothers were with him in his last hours, and after his body had been delivered to them they brought it to Fairfield and it was interred in the northwest corner of the cemetery on Saturday evening, there to rest until the final judgment. The report that the body was raised by body snatchers on Saturday or Sunday night is incorrect.
