Friday, June 13, 1958William WICKLIFF, 23, Dies In Hampton Highway Crash
William T. WICKLIFF, 23, former Fairfield resident, was fatally injured early today in a highway accident hear Hampton.
Officers said WICKLIFF’s car went out of control after missing a curve on Highway 3 at the east edge of Hampton. The accident occurred about 3 a.m. WICKLIFF was alone in the car. He died a short time later in the Hampton hospital.
WICKLIFF made his home in Hampton, located northwest of Waterloo in Franklin county. He was employed by the Eastern Iowa Breeders association and traveled in the Hampton area.
WICKLIFF was the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. WICKLIFF, 309 E. Kirkwood St. He was born and reared in Fairfield, graduating form Fairfield high school in 1952.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Charlotte HENDRICKS; a brother, Pete WICKLIFF, Fairfield; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth CASSAT, Clarinda.
WICKLIFF and his wife observed their third wedding anniversary Thursday. They were married in Fairfield June 12, 1955. They have no children. Mrs. WICKLFF is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne HENDRICKS, 504 W. Kirkwood St.
WICKLIFF was an outstanding athlete in both basketball and football at Fairfield high school. He was president of the junior class and president of the FHS letter club as a senior.
Services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the Greenfield Funeral home at Hampton. The body will be brought to Fairfield for services Monday at 3 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home. Dr. J. Henry Teele will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
