Rites Today For George M. BALL, Local Realtor

Last rites were held today at 1:30 p.m. for George M. BALL, well known Fairfield resident and real estate agent.

The services were held at the Weston Behner funeral home with the Rev. J. Roland Crandall in charge. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

BALL passed away late Saturday morning at the Burlington hospital where he had been a patient for 25 days. He had been in failing health the past two years.

George Manford BALL, 82, was born April 10, 1879, at Fairfield, the son of Frank and Anna CALHOUN BALL. He was married to Laura M. GRABER on Feb. 27, 1901, at Fairfield. He had lived in this community for the past 40 years and had been in the real estate business the past several years. The family home is at 50 E. Madison.

BALL was a member of the First Methodist church, Masonic Lodge No. 15, Fairfield Lions club, and was a director of the Jefferson County Savings and Loan association.

Besides his wife he is survived by one grandson, Ronald F. BALL, Fairfield, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Edith BOWERS, Marengo, Iowa; and Mrs. Mary JAY and Noble BALL (sic – Elsie Noble BALL), both of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and a sister.
