“The Fairfield (Ia.) Daily Ledger”
March, 1945MRS. E. AUGUST RITES, CALIF.
Funeral services for Mrs. Earl AUGUST, 47, who passed away suddenly Saturday morning (sic – March 10th) at 6 a.m. at a Pasadena hospital, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. from a Pasadena funeral home, with burial in Pasadena.
Mrs. AUGUST, well know (sic) here, became suddenly ill Friday morning with an attack of appendicitis and complications, and never regained consciousness from an operation performed the following morning. After selling their heating and plumbing business they had maintained in Fairfield for a number of years, Mr. and Mrs. AUGUST left here the latter part of January to enjoy a leisurely trip enroute to Pasadena where they were to make their home. Their stay at the Little Rock, Ark., resort was cut to one week when they learned Mr. AUGUST’s younger brother in the navy, was to arrive from sea duty in Pasadena, February 15. They were making their home temporarily with Mr. AUGUST’s other brother, Clayton AUGUST, at the time of her death.
Gladys LEWIS AUGUST was born near Ottumwa. Besides her husband she is survived by one brother, Raymond LEWIS in Ottumwa; a married sister in Ottumwa; and one who resides in Fort Dodge. While in Fairfield she was affiliated with the Fairfield Business and Professional Women’s club, Rebekah Lodge No. 96, and Iowa Master Plumber’s Association Auxiliary.
