Emma L. FOSHIER

Emma L. FOSHIER, 79 ,of Fairfield, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Wapello-Davis County Hospice in Ottumwa.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in Oakland Mills Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

Emma Lillian FOSHIER

Emma Lillian FOSHER, 79, of Fairfield, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the Hospice House Serving Wapello and Davis Counties in Ottumwa.

A funeral was at 2 p.m. today at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Matt Reno officiating. Burial was in Oakland Mills Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice House Serving Wapello and Davis Counties, 927 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa 52501.

Mrs. FOSHIER was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Lewis Van Dorin "Whitey" and Ida Lorraine NEWBERRY BLYTHE. She married Jack W. STEARNS Dec. 14, 1949, in Mount Pleasant. He died March 3, 1963, in Mount Pleasant. She then married Robert M. STEARNS Sept. 9, 1966, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Dec. 22, 1970, in Mount Pleasant. She then married William S. FOSHIER Aug. 19, 1979, in Fairfield. He died April 20, 1984, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Iowa City.

Mrs. FOSHIER made her home in the communities of Mount Pleasant, Fairfield and Batavia. She was previously employed at the former Metromail Corp. and Staats Manufacturing, both in Mount Pleasant. For many years, she worked in the housekeeping department at Jefferson County Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 1995.

Mrs. FOSHIER was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, in which she held several state positions. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Turtles and Widow's Club. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. FOSHIER enjoyed family, music and puzzle books. She also enjoyed dancing, reading her Bible and crocheting quilts for family.

Survivors include one son, Richard STEARNS and wife Debbie of Wyoming, Pa.; three daughters, Virginia HILL of Mount Pleasant, Patricia NOLTE of Donnellson and Shelley BECHTEL and husband Chris of Fairfield; one son-in-law, Gayle HALLOWELL of New London; one brother, Jim BLYTHE of Biggsville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Florence HALLOWELL; one sister, Edith BLYTHE; two brothers, Jack and John BLYTHE; and one grandson.
