"A PIONEER WOMAN GONE. Mrs. Dinah McCracken died at her home in Pleasant Plain, Aug 30th. She was a native of North Carolina, and was born Oct 1 1820. With her parents Mr and Mrs John Hadley, she came to Morgan Co., Ind., when four years of age, grew to womanhood there and was married to Hiram McCracken Jan. 25 1844. The young people came to Jefferson County a few months later and their residence here was continuous until death removed them, the husband dying Oct 15 1889. Ten children were born to them, two of whom died when of tender years, and the others all survive their parents. . . . .Member Society of Friends. . . . ."
