Betty Ellen CLARK

Betty Ellen CLARK, 94, died from complications following surgery Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.

A graveside service was held this morning at Dunreath Cemetery in rural Marion County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local food pantry or New Hope United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were in the care of Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel in Des Moines.

Mrs. CLARK was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Harvey, the daughter of Fern and John WHALEY. She married Marion P. CLARK in 1945.

After marrying, Mrs. CLARK and her husband lived in Fairfield. She had been a resident of Beaverdale Estates the past eight years.

Mrs. CLARK was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mariana DUBBERT of Windsor Heights, Barb NELSON and husband Dick of Urbandale and Lucy BROOKS and husband Aus of Crawfordsville, Ind.; two sisters, Frances SMITH of Hartford, and Martha HYDE of Yorba Linda, Calif.; one brother, Bob WHALEY of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Susan CLARK; and two brothers, Jack and Warren WHALEY.
