"Obit. Riley Jones, old resident and pioneer citizen, died at his home two miles south of Veo Thursday Feb. 3, in his 74th year. Fifty-eight years of his life spent in Penn township. Kind neighbor, loving father, affectionate husband. Born in Morgan County, Ind., June 13 1824, came to Jefferson County with his parents in 1839. Married Elizabeth Hoskins in 1844. Ten children, six living and all except Newton of Idaho were present at the funeral. Wife died Jan. (?) 16, 1891. Funeral Sat. at Friends Church at Pleasant Plain; interment in the cemetery adjacent to the church."
