Margaret Estella RAMSEY died at the Jefferson County hospital Monday night (sic – March 20, 1942) at 10:00 p.m. She had been a patient there for the past 10 days after she had suffered a fractured hip. She had been in poor health for the past few years.

Mrs. RAMSEY was born in Jefferson county August 22, 1864 and had spent her entire life here. Her husband, William P. RAMSEY, preceded her in death in August, 1917, and one son Frank, in April 1919.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Oscar WEGMULLER of Atkinson, Ill.; two granddaughters, Blanche RAMSEY of Fairfield and Betty WEGMULLER of Atkinson, Ill.; one foster brother, W. E. CAMPBELL of Fairfield; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Effie CAMPBELL of Richland; one nephew, Roy CAMPBELL of Richland; and two nieces, Mrs. Myrtle ANDERSON and Bertha CLINE, both of Cozad, Nebraska.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: The Fairfield Abbey was an above-ground mausoleum within Evergreen Cemetery, and was in use between 1915 and 1968. Structural problems eventually caused it to partially collapse and those interred there were moved to other accomodations; the remainder of the building was razed. Margaret and husband William were both initially interred in the Abbey, and were moved to Lot 2nd.256½ in Evergreen Cemetery.
