‘JAKE’ RAINS IS CALLED TODAY

Summoned at Jefferson County Hospital; Ill With Pneumonia

Elmer “Jake” RAINS, well known Fairfield resident, died at 11:10 o’clock this morning, at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been ill for a short time with pneumonia.

Mr. RAINS, who was 55 years old, was preceded in death by his wife about three years ago (sic – four years ago, in 1930), and leaves a number of brothers and sisters in Fairfield to mourn his passing.

His brothers are C. W. RAINS, W. E. RAINS, Fred RAINS and Rollie RAINS, all of Fairfield; his sisters are Mrs. Louis WHITE of Fairfield, Mrs. E. W. BATEMAN of Wessington, S. D., and Mrs. Charles HUDDELSON of Ottumwa.

He also leaves two step-daughters, Mrs. Charles GOSSICK, at whose home he lived, and Mrs. Alfred ROSKILLEY of Detroit, Mich.

The body was removed to the Hoskins Funeral Home where funeral arrangments are being planned.

Note: Elmer was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, on Lot 3rd.025. His wife, Elva J. SMITH WILSON, is buried on Lot 2nd.055 with her first husband, Walter WILSON.
