A. J. LUNDQUIST DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

Funeral for well known resident will be held on Sunday

Arthur J. LUNDQUIST, 48, well known insurance agent and resident of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 11:03 p.m. at the Hines veteran Hospital, Chicago, after a brief illness of several weeks with a tumor on the spinal cord.

Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church Sunday, Oct. 15, at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. M. A. Gable in charge. Burial in the Evergreen cemetery.

The body arrived this morning at 8:00 a.m. by train and will lie in state at the Weston Behner Funeral Home until the time of funeral services.

Mr. LUNDQUIST was taken to the Veteran’s hospital in Des Moines and later taken to the hospital in Chicago.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1890, in Jefferson county and spent all of his life in this community with the exception of six years in Kansas.

He was married on August 11, 1920, to Violet Ferne MILLER and to this union three sons were born.

Mr. LUNDQUIST and his father were at one time engaged as contractors and built many houses in Fairfield. Later with his father he took up the insurance business until he enlisted in the army as a private in Company B, 128th Engineers during the World War. He has been in the insurance business continuously since 1912 and is well known all over the state.

Mr. LUNDQUIST was a member of the Methodist church also of the Fairfield Elks and the Eagles Lodges (sic – Elks Lodge, Eagles Aerie). He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

He was the son of the late Frank W. and Amelia AUGUST LUNDQUIST.

The relatives who survive are his wife Violet Ferne and three sons Arthur W., Leland L., and Floyd.
