Carl R. CLAMAN, 81, of Cantril, died at 7:57 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Carl R. CLAMAN

Carl R. CLAMAN, 81, of Cantril, died at 7:57 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with family present from 4-6 p.m.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 181, Cantril 52542.

Mr. CLAMAN was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Cornea, N.M., the son of Nathaniel J. and Carrie SUBRIER CLAMAN. He married Marian CORTUM July 2, 1949, in Omaha, Neb.

Mr. CLAMAN grew up in Gilmore City. He and his wife lived in Fort Dodge, rural Pulaski and, for many years, Mount Sterling before moving to Cantril in 1998. Mr. CLAMAN had worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and also as a maintainer operator with the Van Buren County Secondary Road Department for many years.

Mr. CLAMAN had served as a city council member and night marshal in Mount Sterling. He was a member of Mount Sterling Betterment Association and Cantril Grass Roots.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Dennis CLAMAN and wife Nancy of Farson, Wyo., Charles CLAMAN and wife Rhonda of Farmington, Randy CLAMAN of Cantril and Ronald CLAMAN and wife Jami of Cantril; two daughters, Sharon BOGGS and husband Kenneth of Wright City, Mo., and Crystal WILEY and husband Robert of Milton; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one stepbrother, Ralph CARGILE of Moline, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Leona CLAMAN; one son, Robert CLAMAN; one brother, Thaniel CLAMAN; and two sisters, Bertha POGGE and Carrie CLAMAN.
