Duane E. NEUBAUER, 85, of rural Birmingham, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Peggy Ellingson and the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Interment will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.
Family visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
Memorials have been established to Birmingham United Methodist Church, Birmingham Lions Club and Fell Cemetery Association.

Mr. NEUBAUER was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Hamilton County, the son of Arthur and Myrtle WELLAND NEUBAUER.
He married Evelyn WILSON June 2, 1948, at her parents' home in Libertyville.
Mr. NEUBAUER was salutatorian of the 1943 class of Atchison County Community High School in Effingham, Kan. He resided in the Liberty Township his entire adult life. He farmed and had worked for Rock Island Railroad, Louden Machinery Company, Fairfield Aluminum Castings Co. and Dexter in Fairfield. He also had worked at Maytag Company in Newton.
Mr. NEUBAUER served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 21, 1943, to May 27, 1946.
Mr. NEUBAUER was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Birmingham Lions Club and American Legion. He and his wife were Volunteers in Mission through the Methodist church for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Ron NEUBAUER and wife Judy of Fairfield; two daughters, Connie DICKINSON and husband Mike of Mount Pleasant and Judy LYON and husband Mark of Maquoketa; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Ronald of Ackley, Marvin and Ralph, both of Mason City, Linda KIRBY of Philadelphia, Pa., and Joan REIGHARD of Alden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Lyle, Norma, Ruth THIES, Jean and Zelda SCHWIEGERATH.
