William Lee ROYER of Burlington died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Klein Center in Burlington.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Larry Dodds officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be Saturday afternoon in Friends Cemetery in Richland.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church or Great River Hospice. Memorials may be sent to 10564 Rolling Hills Drive, Burlington 52601.
Mr. ROYER was born Feb. 3 (sic - year omitted but determined to be 1925) in Brighton, the son of Everett Lee and Mabel MULLIKIN ROYER. He married Alice-Kaye SNIDER Sept. 16, 1947, in Fairfield.
Mr. ROYER attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Indiana Institute of Technology and University of California, Los Angeles. He was an electrical engineer for the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Russia, and was a chief engineer in Saudi Arabia. He had lived in Santa Monica and Huntington Beach, Calif.; Yanbu and Al Kobar, Saudi Arabia; and Moscow, Russia.
Mr. ROYER was a radio operator for the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife and one brother: Joe ROYER.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings: Mildred BENSMILLER, Marjorie LILLARD, Richard ROYER, James ROYER, Thomas ROYER, Robert ROYER, Charles Kenneth ROYER and John ROYER.
