Wayne Marvin GRAY

Wayne Marvin GRAY, 78, of Cantril, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Milton Christian Church, with the Rev. Justin DeVries officiating. Mr. GRAY's body was donated to University of Iowa Department of Anatomy.

Memorials to Veterans Hospital, Knoxville may be brought to the church or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 175, Cantril 52542.

Mr. GRAY was born Feb. 20, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of LeRoy and Margaret BLOCKER GRAY. He married Pat OLDHAM in 1971. They divorced in 1980 and re-married in 1993.

Mr. GRAY joined the U.S. Navy in 1949 and served in the Navy Construction Batallion Seabees as a heavy equipment operator. He retired as a chief petty officer after 23 years of service.

The GRAYs lived in California until moving to Cantril in 2001.

Mr. GRAY was affiliated with Milton Christian Church and was a member of the Navy Fleet Reserve.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Linda FRYE and husband Robert of Portland, Maine, Gloria GRAY of Barstow, Calif., Robin HENDRICKS and husband Ed of Keosauqua and Becky LAUGHLIN and husband Bobby of Keosauqua; two sons, Mike GRAY and wife Doreen of Pensacola, Fla., and Billy HENDRICKS of Orange County, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Jessie ESPANOSA of San Leandro, Calif.; and one brother, Walter GRAY of Barstow, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Esther; and one brother, LeRoy GRAY.
