BATAVIA. -- Mrs. Esther JAGER WHELCHEL, 66, died at Burlington Saturday at 1 p.m. She had been in poor health for six years.She was born Nov. 1, 1897 in Wapello County, the daughter of George and Rachel ROBERTS JAGER. She had lived in the Batavia community until moving to Burlington 20 years ago.
She was a member of the Batavia Christian Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Guy WHELCHEL; one daughter, Mrs. Helen GILTNER; two granddaughters and a brother, Roy JAGER.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Leonard ORNDUFF of Fairfield; one son, Cmdr. George GOBBLE of Springfield, N. J.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Robert SILLICK of Burlington and two brothers, Ralph and Otho JAGER of Great Falls, Mont.
The service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Ned Gillum officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
