Tuesday January 25, 1944PROMINENT LOCAL WOMAN DIES TODAY
Mrs. Alex EASTON, 84, a well known Fairfield woman, succumbed this morning at 8:30 o'clock at the Jefferson county hospital where she had been a patient since yesterday.
She had been seriously ill the past five weeks at the home of her son Harry EASTON (sic. Harvey EASTON), 105 South "C" Street, where she had made her home for sometime.
The body has been taken to the Murray Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are pending, awaiting word from a son, Percy EASTON, who lives in California.
Mrs. EASTON, the former Jennie Travis JOHNSON, was born August 15, 1859 in Vermont, Ill., and was married to Alex EASTON, June 5, 1879 in Vermont. The couple moved to Fairfield in 1889 and a short time after, built their home at 106 E. Washington Street, where they continued to reside for many years.
Mrs. EASTON was preceded in death by her husband, a Civil War Veteran, who passed away on Lincoln's birthday, February 12, 1934.
She is survived by three sons, Oscar EASTON, 202 South "B" Street, Harvey EASTON, 105 South "C" Street, and Percy EASTON of Los Angeles, Calif., and three grandchildren.
Mrs. EASTON was a long time member of the Fairfield First Christian Church.

Services will be held at 3:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Murray Funeral Home for Mrs. Alex EASTON, prominent Fairfield woman, who passed away at the Jefferson County Hospital yesterday morning.
The Rev. S. P. Williamson will be in charge of the services and burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Because of transportation difficulties, Percy EASTON of Beverly Hills, Calif. will be unable to come to Fairfield in time for the services.
