BONAR, Ruth Ann -- Ruth Ann BONAR, 59, of Birmingham, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010.

A celebration of life will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Friends Church. A light luncheon will follow.

Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. BONAR was born Feb. 8, 1951, in Fairfield, the daughter of Carl and Opal LEE JOHNSON. She married Gary L. BONAR Oct. 3, 1970.

Mrs. BONAR graduated from Fairfield High School in 1968. She graduated from the Southeast Iowa Community College secretarial program in 1970 and the medical assistant program in 1989. Mrs. BONAR helped in the family-owned business Bonar Feed Service that was operated in Salem for more than 22 years. She also worked in a number of clerical and medical facilities including University of Iowa; Dr. Miller & Dr. Widmer's office in Mount Pleasant; Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant; ResCare in Fairfield; and Van Buren County Central Point of Coordination in Keosauqua.

Mrs. BONAR was active in the Town & Country Garden Club, The Sac & Fox Lapidary Club and Friends of Gladys.

Her interests included gardening, scrapbooking, antiques, crafts and cooking.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Sara L. QUINN of Coal Valley, Ill., Ryan L. BONAR of Fairfield and Alex E. BONAR of Fairfield; five grandchildren; and one brother, Roger JOHNSON.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
