"Last rites were held in Cedar Rapids Wed. May 19 for Burl Elmore, former resident of Jefferson County who was reared on a farm about 3 1/2 miles s.w. of Pleasant Plain. Mr. Elmore died Mon. at St. Luke Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Born Sept 16 1885 near Knoxville, Tenn., son of William and Martha Elmore. When a small child he moved with his family to a farm n.e. of Fairfield. Married Cora Cook, Ottumwa, who survives. Also survived by three children: Orville W. Elmore, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Marvin Stone, Union, N.J., and Mrs. Allen Nelson, Cedar Rapids. . . . . Brothers and sisters also survive: Kenneth Elmore and Mrs. Elizabeth Frain, both of Brighton; Mrs. Guy Parkins and Beecher R. Elmore, both of Fairfield; and Raymond H. and Golden W. Elmore, both of California. . . . ."
