"Maynard Elmore, 66, lifetime resident of Jefferson County, died early today at Veterans Hosp. in Iowa City. A retired farmer, Elmore made his home at 104 S. Ninth St. Behner Funeral Home. Born Jan 6 1897 in Jefferson County, son of Calvin and Sarah Duncan Elmore; married Lucille Hade Dec 29 1950. Veteran of WW1, member of American Legion. Member of the Pleasant Plain Friends Church. Surviving are wife and two stepchildren, Gerald Olin, Princeton, Ill.; and Mrs. James Gibson, Fort Smith, Ark.; one step-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Esther Hodson, Mt. Pleasant, and one brother, Otto Elmore, Davenport. Preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, including Nick Elmore, Fairfield, who died suddenly Oct. 27."
