DEATH CLAIMS KATE HARPER

Death came suddenly last night to Kate A. HARPER, well known registered nurse who had lived practically all of her life in Fairfield.

She was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett SCHLARBAUM, 600 S. Sixth street, where she went to spend the evening. She took suddenly ill at the table and passed away at 10:30 p.m. She had been in her usual health previously.

Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with Rev. Frank Deaver in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Kate A. HARPER was born near Trenton, Iowa, in Henry county, the daughter of Eli and Clara BARNETT HARPER. She came to this community when quite young and spent the remainder of her life in Fairfield.

She was a graduate from the Fairfield high school and the Chicago School of Nursing. She was employed as a private nurse and office assistant to the late Dr. E.G. Myrick from more than 29 years. Since his death she had done private nursing. Her home is at 800 W. Hempstead street. She was a member of the Degree of Honor.

Miss HARPER is survived by a half sister, Mrs. Mary BIDDLE, Fairfield; a nephew, Dale BOWERMASTER, Fairfield, and a niece, Mrs. Ralph REED, Salina, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by a half brother and one sister.

Admin note: Her Death Certificate states she was divorced. Jefferson County Marriage Records show a marriage to William A. CARPENTER on May 14, 1944. She was born on November 15, 1886.
