Alvena V. BARNETT, 80, of Waterloo, died Friday afternoon, March 27, 1992, of natural causes at her home.
The service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo with a 3 p.m. graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation is from 5 to 9 tonight at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, for one hour before the service at the church or just before the graveside service at the cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mrs. BARNETT was born Aug. 15, 1911, in Fairfield, the daughter of Harry and Laura ADLER KNAUSS. She married Chester M. BARNETT on Aug. 10, 1954, in Angola, Ind. He died March 7, 1986. Mrs. BARNETT retired in 1962.
Surviving are a son, H. Edward of Midway, Ark.; a daughter, Ella Mae BARNETT of Grimes; a brother, Wilbur KNAUSS of Guthrie Center; two sisters, Dorothy ELLIOTT of La Porte City, and Berdina METZ of Fairfield. Two brothers, Harry Jr. and Kenneth, and a grandson preceded her in death.

Admin. note: Alvena was married three times, first to Harley Edward BARNETT (1927), second to James F. WILSON (1939), and third to Chester M. BARNETT (1954). Harley died in 1973 and is buried in Moline, IL; James died in 1980 and is buried in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield IA; Chester died in 1986 and is also buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in a different Addition from Alvena. A grandson, Mark, shares Alvena's gravestone with her.
