November 15, 1982Myrtle WADE dies at 95
Myrtle WADE, 95, longtime resident of the Fairfield Community, died at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson County Hospital.
She was the widow of the late Charles W. WADE who owned and operated the Fair Store on the south side of the Fairfield Square for over 45 years.
He came to Fairfield in Feb., 1897 and opened his store where Seiferts is now located. For many years it was one of Fairfield's leading retail establishments. WADE retired and closed the store in 1942.
Services for Myrtle WADE will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Riggs will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Myrtle WADE was born Dec. 17, 1886, in Morning Sun. She was the daughter of Elliott and Laura REYNOLDS KEARNS, and with the family moved to Fairfield in 1889.
Her marriage to Frank H. SIMPSON took place May 9, 1906. He died Dec. 24, 1918. She married Charles W. WADE April 11, 1928, at Cedar Rapids. He died Jan. 26, 1956.
Mrs. WADE maintained the family home at 106 W. Washington until 1974 when she moved to the Parkview Care Center.
Mrs. WADE had made her home in Fairfield for 91 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star and a 50-year member of Chapter HA, PEO.
Survivors include a duaghter, Louise LAWSON, Fairfield; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one brother, three sisters, and one grandchild.
