"Wm. Henry Avery died yesterday at Iowa City, result of highway crash near Brighton on Apr. 16. Friends Cemetery, Pleasant Plain. Born Oct 11 1882 at Packwood, son of the late John and Josephy Lemming Avery; married Luetta Wynona Rambo Oct 8 1913. Spent most of their married life in Keokuk and Jefferson Counties . . . . . Survived by a son Francis Avery who lives on the home farm near Pleasant Plain, and one grandson; four brothers, Bert Avery, Fairfield; Ed and Robert Avery, Packwood; and Harry Avery, Longview, Washington; and two sisters, Verna Avery, Fairfield, and Mrs. Cora Wiggins, Riverside, Calif. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother and one sister."
