NELSON, Robert Dean 'Bobby' -- Robert Dean (Bobby) NELSON passed away at his home on Hawaii, November 26, 2010.

He was born February 27, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa. Robert was the son of the late Eunice and O.B. NELSON.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1976 and attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. After school Bobby lived in Des Moines, IA, Chicago, IL, Minneapolis, MN, San Francisco, CA, and in 2001, fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Bobby was a talented and prolific artist and many friends and family members benefited from his generosity. He returned to Fairfield in October of 2009 to have an art exhibit and sale of his work at Iowa State Bank. Bobby also was present with the rest of his family for the induction of his father to the Parsons College Wall of Honor, after which he returned to Hawaii.

He is survived by one brother and four sisters: Marilyn BERGESS of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Dick NELSON of Kalona, Iowa, Sarah FUERSTENAU of Racine, Wisconsin, Kate DE JONG of Knoxville, Iowa, and Cindy NELSON of Watertown, Massachusetts. He is also survived by four nephews, five nieces, five great-nephews and one great-niece.

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his parents.

He was cremated and his ashes scattered at sea per his wishes. A memorial fund has been established at the Fairfield Public Library. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
