PHILIPS, Michael H. -- Michael H. PHILIPS, 57, of Fairfield, died at 1:22 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials to the New Life Community Church Celebrate Recovery Program in Fairfield may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 206 E. Pierce Ave., Apt. 2, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. PHILIPS was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Ottumwa, the son of Rex and Vida KERR PHILIPS.

Mr. PHILIPS grew up on the family farm near Douds. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1971 and from the University of Iowa in 1975 with a degree in accounting. He had been an accountant for Copperfield Chimney Supply Co. in Fairfield.

Survivors include his special friend, Edna Rambo of Fairfield; two sons, David and Matthew PHILIPS of Fairfield; one daughter, Heather PHILIPS of Ottumwa; one granddaughter; and three brothers, Kriss PHILIPS of Boone, Marvin PHILIPS of Douds and Carl PHILIPS of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
