FAIRFIELD MAN DIES AT HOME
Charles S. WALKER, 80, was found dead at his home, 403 W. Washington street at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He was alone at the time and had been covering the back door with storm paper.
His daughter, Mrs. Earl REED and grandson John, had called to see him and had left about 4 p. m. He was believed to have died at 4:30. Mr. WALKER was found by Gladys Jones who has a room at the WALKER home.
Coroner Jack Raymond said he died of natural causes and there will be no inquest.
Charles S. WALKER was born May 1, 1868, in Iowa, the son of the later Peter and Mary Jane NEWELL WALKER. He was united in marriage August 21, 1890, at Birmingham, to Nellie [Mary N.] CALHOUN.
The WALKERs moved to Fairfield from a farm north of Fairfield several years ago. He retired from his duties as a postal employee 15 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. WALKER organized the Golden Wedding club in Fairfield several years ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. WALKER is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C. L. NEELEY, Tucson, Arizona; and Mrs. Earl REED, Fairfield; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death January 7, 1941. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ernest [Charles Ernest], who died February 27, 1930.
The body is at the Hoskins funeral home where last rites are pending.
