Mrs. Stella GAINES, 86, widow of Louis O. GAINES, pioneer Fairfield industry salesman, died at 11:05 a.m. today at her apartment in the Turner hotel.
Mrs. GAINES had been seriously ill over the past six day. She suffered a broken hip in a fall last December.
Last rites will be next Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian. Services in charge of the Rev. S.P. Williamson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. GAINES was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. She was born here July 31, 1868, the daughter of Ringgold and Cora HUYETT. She was married to L. O. GAINES Sept. 22, 1890 at St. Joseph, Mo. Mr. GAINES, who preceded her in death June 27, 1949, was the first president of the Dexter Co.
Mrs. GAINES was a member of the Presbyterian church. She was also active at Chapter C P.E.O. and was a member of that organization for more that 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Louis E. GAINES, Fairfield, and Huyett GAINES, Los Angeles, Calif. Other survivors are four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother M. M. HUYETT, Salina, Kan. One brother preceded her in death.
The body is at the Hoskins Funeral home. Arrangements are in charge of the Hoskins home and K. F. Monger.
