THOMAS, Doris M. -- Doris M. THOMAS, 90, of Keosauqua died at 5:20 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

THOMAS, Doris M. -- Doris M. THOMAS, 90, of Lebanon, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron and the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Burial will be in Fiedler Cemetery, southwest of Eldon.

Open visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with family present from 5:30-7 p.m.

Memorials to Fiedler Cemetery or Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 13488 172nd St., Douds 52551.

Mrs. THOMAS was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Tama County, the daughter of Ralph R. and Mary Josephine OLIVER DeVAULT. She married Stuart F. THOMAS June 22, 1941, at her parents' home hear Selma. He died Nov. 2, 2009.

Mrs. THOMAS graduated from Selma High School in 1938. She and her husband farmed in Wapello and Van Buren counties. They moved their farm (sic - moved to) north of Lebanon in 1948. Mrs. THOMAS had worked at Universal Producing Co. in Fairfield, at Van Buren County home as a cook for 10 years and at Douds Café for several years. She had resided at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua for 11 months.

She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and had been a member of Eldon Christian Church with her husband. Mrs. THOMAS also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Twin City Chapter No. 258 of Douds, Valley Club, Town and Country Garden Club and Lebanon United Methodist Women.

Survivors include two sons, Ivan THOMAS of Douds and Melvin THOMAS and wife Judy of Keosauqua; one daughter, Shirley TEDROW and husband Wayne of Cantril; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen DeVAULT of Washington, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ivan H. DeVAULT; and one sister, Alice STACKHOUSE.
