COLEMAN, Verna McCARTY DOUTHART -- Verna McCARTY DOUTHART COLEMAN, 78, of Bonaparte, died at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Pastor Larry Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Forbes Cemetery, north of Keosauqua.

Visitation will be open 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral.

Memorials to the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 201 West Street, Bonaparte 52620.

Mrs. COLEMAN was born Dec. 4, 1931, at Mount Zion, the daughter of Thomas and Madeline SLUTTS McCARTY. She married William DOUTHART. He died in 1960. She later married Donald COLEMAN. They divorced.

Mrs. COLEMAN grew up in Mount Zion and lived her life in the Keosauqua-Bonaparte area. She worked at Bonaparte Glove Factory and Bonaparte Public Library, retiring in 1999.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol DOUTHART and Linda DOUTHART, both of Bonaparte, and Connie ALLEN of Livonia, Mo.; three sons, Ronald COLEMAN of Burlington, Donald COLEMAN and Michael COLEMAN, both of Bonaparte; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn GASKELL of Bonaparte and Audrey ELLIS of Colorado Springs, Col.; three brothers, Gary McCARTY of Colorado Springs, Col., Donald McCARTY in Louisiana and Les McCARTY of Keosauqua.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Terry COLEMAN and William DOUTHART Jr.; one sister, LaVina DUNCAN; four brothers, Arthur, Jimmy, Robert and Richard McCARTY; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
